Elizabeth II Definitive Stamps 1956 to 1961
1956 Marginal Markings.
Each sheet had the same printers’ imprint under the middle stamp of the bottom row:
‘Waterlow & Son Limited, London Wall, London, E.C.’.
Under the inscription is a small circular mark designed to help align the perforating head.
Above the middle stamp of the top row is the Waterlow Die Number. This is normally completely guillotined off after printing
but a small trace can be seen if the sheet has a particularly broad margin. A perforating guide mark is also in the top margin.
