In 1870 De La Rue asked if they could keep ‘a perfect record of all Crown Colonies Stamp Printing Plates’
for their own reference. The Crown Agents agreed, subject to the use of enamelled card and the addition of
a CANCELLED overprint.

One sheet in the colour of each value issued in 1872 was produced. There was no need to finish the stamps
by the addition of the value, perforation or gum.
