Jean de Sperati Forgeries
Sperati Proof on glazed card
. . .
Claw Footed ‘R’ Sperati signature and
FALSCH / FAUX handstamp
Sperati usually signed his reproductions Jean de Sperati in soft pencil. Many collectors have erased this over the
years, with only a small number now surviving.
Photographic prints, reputedly from the original negative
Sperati originally created his forgeries by a photographic technique. His negatives were used to print samples,
and these were marked with a handstamp SPERATI / REPRODUCTIONS.
