Air Mail Services
Aéromaritime Wartime Service
The cessation of the Elders Colonial Airways service in July 1939 cut Sierra Leone off from any direct service
to any destination. An arrangement was made with Aéromaritime for them to call at Freetown and thus
provide a link with the Air France service to Europe. This service was in place from September 1939 until the
fall of France in June 1940.
