Forces Air Mail
No formal notification of the air mail rates for forces’ personnel was included in the Sierra Leone Royal Gazette
after 1947. The 2½d rate is frequently encountered, but the earlier 3d rate is known only from a few examples.
26 July 1949 - Freetown Garrison Mail to Woolwich, United Kingdom. Paid at 3d rate.
12 December 1955 - Freetown Garrison Mail to Burwash, United Kingdom. Paid at 2½d rate.
