It is not known whether these stamps were issued as a short term measure whilst stocks of the new keyplate
designs were awaited, or whether they were produced to use up supplies of the revenue stamps. Each sheet
has 60 stamps in six rows of ten.
Stamps 1 and 6 of top row show variety ‘A’ to left of ‘S’
An overprint forme of 30 dies in the format of five wide and six high was applied twice to each sheet. On
stamp 16 of the forme the ‘A’ of AND is to the left of the ‘S’ of POSTAGE rather than directly below it. In
this block the left-hand overprint forme is printed slightly higher than the right-hand one.
