Overprints on Revenue Issues 1897
1897 2½d Overprint on Threepence and Sixpence Revenue Issue.
The printer assembled 30 examples of “2½d” for overprinting and applied the forme twice to each pane of 60
stamps. As 30 identical dies were not available, the forme was made up of different fonts. Collectors cherish
strips of four from the bottom right-hand corner of the forme which includes one of each font.
