Owasippe Scout Reservati on, located in Twi n Lake, Michigan is the resi dent camp ope rated by the
Chicago Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It began in 1911 as Camp White and is the United
States' o ldest and longest continuo usly operatin g Boy Scout camp .
The Owasippi, Ml camp post office was the first of only five seasona l post offi ces within the boundari es
of res ident Scout camps in the U.S.A. The camp post office was establi shed 1924, name change to
Owas ippe 1929, rural of Wh itehal l from 1955, rural of Twin Lake from 1960 and closed 1984.
T he only known cancelling dev ice from the Owas ippi , MI post office is a 4-bar duplex hand stamp,
probab ly used from 1924 to 1929.
