Dr. Steph en Hector Tay lor-S mith , Secretary of the Indi an Air Mail Society, was a
pioneer in rocket mail di spatches, and was responsible fo r demonstrati ons of thi s
new method fo r ma il transport. Espec ially, the ability to effective ly spread
propaganda was considered important at the time.
11 different rocket firin gs to0k place at the All India Boy Scouts Jamboree in Delhi
and two firin gs at the Benga l Girl Guide Rally, both in 1937. The Boy Scouts and
Girl Guides rece ived first hand experience in tran sporting messages through the air.
2,000 blue stamps were printed, used I and 3 Feb. 2,000 red stamps were printed, used 2 Feb.
Specially printed stamps were used for covers and postcards carri ed by the mail rockets.
2,000 green stamps were printed, used 3 Feb. 500 orange stamps were printed, used 2 March.
