Commercial Rooms Service Letters to the UK
The ‘Commercial Rooms’ was the best known forwarding agent in Jamaica, in the first half of the 19th century.
These two covers demonstrate that the first available vessel was utilised, irrespective of whether Packet or other.
The rooms were situated in Harbour Street, Kingston and shared premises with a drinking Tavern.
It provided similar services to that of ‘Lloyds of London’.
The agency expired shortly after the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company started operating in 1842.
