Jamaica Registration: Certificate of Posting.
Certificate of posting of a registered article at Kingston, 1938, reunited with its matching cover.
The heading on the certificate has been changed to ‘REGISTERED ARTICLE’, embracing letters, parcels,
wrappers and any other items that might be registered. There is no section for the name of the sender nor
space for entering the postage paid, but there is an unnecessary space for recording the fee (always the same
2d) and this clerk has left it blank.
The clerk wrote the registration number
3105 (matching the registration label),
the addressee, Frau Lies Spohler
Bremen Germany, and his initials.
Kingston registered: 4 February 38
(Lant type RC15, die 6). There are also
traces of the datestamp applied to the
preceding certificate above. Certificates
were stamped before being detached
from their book, the sequence of the
certificates was from top to bottom.
Violet framed AIRMAIL.
The corresponding, probably philatelic, envelope from Kingston to Germany.
An envelope of the NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD / BREMEN.
