Part cover with contents, salvaged from the Grantham Railway
Disaster of the 19th September 1906 when the Great Northern
Railway Anglo-Scots Express failed to stop at Grantham
Station to pick up mail en-route to Scotland from London. The
train derailed on a bend, having crossed points set for a local
goods train. All but three carriages were thrown down the
embankment or were involved in the demolition of a bridge.
