HERE IS A THREE-IN-ONE office-Martin Mill Sub-Post
Office, Railway Station and Signal box, which is on the
Dover-Deal line. The Stationmaster-Postmaster John
H. Smissen is proud of his unique three-fold job,
which he has held for the past 12 years. His assistant
is the Signalman, George Hopper, who is serving an
old-age pensioner.
Newspaper cutting telling of the Three-in-One functions carried out
by the Station Master/Postmaster, John Smissen and his assistant,
signalman George Hooper. Between them they run the sub-post
office, railway station and the signal box. The card is signed by
both. Small piece with 1 d and a bisected 1 d GEO V value tied by
the single ring cancel MARTIN MILL STATION/DOVER dated
23rd June 1928 with index A
