                 3"' July 1864, Entire letter sent to Aarhus with manuscript via Liibek and 6 Skilling: Sent
              through field post office number three which was in Assens on the island of Fyn from 29m June
                                 1864. Datestamped with eds Ant VIII  FELTPOST No3.


              The first armistice ended on 25m June and the postal route to the south was closed from this date and martial law
              declared on 5th July. Despite this, the letter was forwarded to Copenhagen, taken to Lubeck by mail steamer and
                              then sent by ordinary mail services and the Prussian field post to Aarhus .
