THE 1895 TWO RUPEES GREEN

Koeppel & Manners list a single printing in pale green, but there are colour varieties and differences
according to date of use where it is clear that later usages are from a worn plate and of indifferent
printings usually with details impossible to discern.

                         1895 1896C 1 1896C 2

                         1897 1900A 1900B

                        1900C 1901A 1 1901B 1

It can be seen from the examples shown that the 1895 usage was a pale green with a discernible design.
1896 & 1897 have a deep yellow green colour with less well defined features.
1900 & 1901 examples are very pale green, again poorly defined features.

It should be remembered that Koeppel & Manners believed that documents were first issued in 1896.This
means that the earliest they had seen was from 1896 so they had likely looked at post 1896 examples, if they
were dateable, which would explain why they only listed a pale green colour for this issue.
