II Bc. THE TWO ANNAS PINK WATERCOLOUR STAMPS

These stamps are less common than the 1 anna stamps as the 1 anna was the fee for basic
receipts, invoices etc, whereas the 2 annas stamp was used on documents of the revenue
department and had to compete with the 2 annas revenue documents. So it is usually found as
a make-up stamp on revenue documents along with the four annas stamp and the one anna
stamp, Later it is found alongside the smaller stamps introduced 1895-1900.

The catalogue, lists its colours as red to lilac, whereas the exhibitor has seen only varieties of
pink, apart from a very faded pink which has a tint of pale orange. Dealers usually refer to 2
               annas stamps as pink.
