                               Ringwood Numeral Error - “120”

Ringwood was issued numeral 644 in 1844.
However, they used a numeral 120 device
between 1850 and 1866, at which time they
                            reverted to the 644 numeral.

                                             Blackburn Numeral Error - “98” for “86”

Blackburn to London, Jan. 27, 1847. Blackburn was incorrectly provided with an obliterator numbered “98”
instead of the designated “86”. This incorrect obliterator was deliberately applied upside-down in order to
read correctly. The smaller loop of the “8” appears at the bottom, confirming the inversion of the
cancellation. Blue Blackburn dispatch and red London arrival datestamps on the reverse.
