XIX. New stamps for the Duchies Invalid usage from Rendsburg

          I 2th November 1865, I ~ Schillinge Schleswig-Holstein (Mi9) used on cover to Bossee marked Cito
in manuscript (with haste - not a official postal instruction), and postmarked Prussian double eds
                                                   RENDSBURG.

The Schleswig-Holstein stamps issued on I st June 1865 for the whole of Schleswig, Holstein and
Lauenburg, were valid in Holstein until 31 st October 1865, and again from 6m November 1866. This
franking was therefore invalid and is marked as such with blue crayon. However, no penalty postage
was levied; there is no 2 (Schillinge) marked on the reverse, and the letter was delivered by the
postman for 0 Schillinge Zustellgebuhr, (local delivery fee).

There are no other markings. Bossee is within two Prussian miles of Rendsburg, and it may be that the postman simply
delivered it for the Y1 Schillinge fee for the local delivery district (Zustellbezirk). He may have thought that the 2 Schillinge
was an unreasonable charge since a stamp valid only two weeks before had been used. It was a complicated time to be a
                                               postman in Schleswig-Holstein.
