This is the VIP edition official First Day Cover 6.3b distributed to guests at the inauguration on lOth
May 1994. Signed N(elson) Mandela, it differs from the regular F.D.C. in also having two additional
date-stamps at top left, repeated on the reverse. The South African Post Office issued official FDC's
from #1 in 1965. They are numbered sequentially for each commemorative stamp issue. A new series
starts when a new definitive issue is made - so 6.3b is the 6th series, 3rd issue and 2nd cover of that
issue (b).A landmark day in South African history captured on a cover.
