In 1990 the Royal Mail celebrated the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Penny Black with
the issue of a miniature sheet to coincide with the International Stamp Exhibition 'Stamp World
London 1990'. The sheet contained the 20p value from the set issued in January 1990, featuring a
famous portrait of H.M. Queen Victoria together with the Machin head of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II.
The miniature sheet design incorporated the figure of Britannia and seahorses from the high value
stamps from the reign of King George V, who was himself a prominent philatelist and Past President
of the Royal Philatelic Society London.
