Walsall Security Printers produced this preliminary photographic essay from the artist's drawing. The
stamp's value had not been decided so OOp was placed on the design using a transparent overlay, as
was the other text, the crown and royal cipher. This essay was sent to the artist, Alfred Ryman, and
Gibraltar's Stamp Design Committee so that they could see what the stamp-size version would look
like prior to proceeding further with production.
