At the RPSL: Hon Secretary reported that sending the London Philatelist to Chicago takes 11
days. He had a cover from the first year of the Society, 1869, that only took two days more.

Instead of de-monetising the remaining stock, stamps bearing the head of the fallen Shah continued
to be used but were often defaced. It was obligatory for all registered mail to be additionally franked
with a charity stamp, costing 50 dinars. It is interesting to note that although the design of the
charity stamp incorporates a lion, the symbol of Iran under the Shah, that in this case it has not been
similarly obliterated. This 20 gram registered airmail letter left Teheran on 10 February 1980 arriving
in Dubbo nine days later.
