Croatia has considerable difficult ies in determining the first stamp issue which features
unmistakeable signs of its postal and political suzerainty. In recent years opinion has swung in favour
of the commemorative set released on 29 November 1918 to mark the break of political and
constitutional links with the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Two types can be readily identified for all
values, with Type I occupying all the odd vertical rows and Type II all the even vertical rows. The
aggregate issued quantity of the four denominations was one hundred thousand stamps. Correctly
prepaid letters, postcards and parcel cards are very rare.
