Apollo 10 (AS-505) We Are Close
The journey between Earth and the Moon was uneventful, and it wasn't until lunar orbit that trouble
really started.
On day four Stafford and Ceman were in the LM 'Snoopy' and drifting away from Young in the CM,
called Charlie Brown. The separation had taken place on the far side of the Moon, out of contact with
Earth, and in that moment Young became the most isolated man alive, knowing only too well that if any-
thing went wrong with the LM he would have a very long and lonely return to Earth without his col-
leagues.

towards moon at a speed of over 24, OOO
miles an hour.
