March 13, 1853 – Lettersheet from Marlow to Switzerland with 1848 embossed
issue 10d brown and plate 142 1d red paying the 11d per ¼ ounce rate to
Switzerland via France. Rate was in effect from December 1, 1845 until January 1,
1855.
Marlow "518" numerals cancellations, red “ANGL / CALAIS / 15 Mar 1853”
datestamp and “PD” designating that postage is paid to destination. Marlow,
London, Basel, and Mendrisio datestamps on the reverse.
