                 March 27, 1851. London to Huddersfield. 2d adhesive paying postage for letter between ½ and 1
                 ounce; 1d adhesive paying late fee for mail deposited after 6 o’clock PM. Black London Inland “EU
                 MR-29 1851” and blue “Huddersfield MR-28 1851” datestamps on the reverse.

















                 Three pence rated covers are very unusual.
                 During the imperforate period, there were only two ways to have a 3d rate that was not over
                 or underpaid:
                 - 1 oz letter plus late fee
                 - Voter notice rate of 1d postage and  the special 2d registration fee only for that class of
                    mailing
