Extract from The Public Ledger newspaper
which records the arrival of Nunez, under
Capt. Berecourt.
The writer was Charles Heddle
(1812-c1880), a well-known
businessman based in Freetown.
He was the son of a Scottish army
doctor and an African mother. He
had extensive business interests
in the exporting of peanuts and
timber.
