This unframed handstamp had very little use, with all examples known being dated in July 1942. There are
fewer than ten covers with Censor Number QQ/1 and only one with QQ/2.

The half-ounce air mail letter rate to the UK was set at 1s 3d with effect from 6 July 1942,

so this is an early example of that rate.
