Resealing Tape Type 3a with Handstamp Type 8
This tape is identical to Type 3, but the envelopes were additionally struck with a 3mm high handstamp of
the same censor’s number. As this was invariably struck under the tape, it is not always visible. Recorded from
September 1942 until October 1943. Censor numbers Q.Q. 10, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 21 have been seen.
June 1943 - Gerihun to Togher, Ireland.
Backstamped at Bo (21 Jun) and Freetown (22 Jun).
Censored in Freetown by Examiner QQ/16 and
again in the UK by Examiner 1007. Irish ‘Released by
Censor’ handstamp.
