Airways conducted an
experimental flight from
Freetown to Conakry
on 2 July 1939; this
led to a regular flight
commencing on 22 July.
The Aero Field records
that three covers were
carried on the outward
experimental flight.
The Aero Field also
records that about
130 covers were flown
on the return leg of
the experimental
flight, each receiving
a special handstamp.
These covers were paid
3f 25c. In the second
example, the ‘R’ is
missing from the word
‘FREETOWN’.
