Scouting Around the World Sweden

IOGT was estab li shed in Sweden in 1879 . IOGT-NTO of today was formed in 1970
through the merger of the Swedish IOGT with Nationa ltempl arorden (NTO), a Chri stian
Swedi sh tempe rance organ ization . NTO in turn was formed in 1922 through the merger of
Nationalgodtemp larorden (NGTO) and Templarorden (TO). Sco utin g began as an activity
within N TO in 1927. In 1947 , they marked the 20'11 an ni versary with a national Boy Scout
camp at Orebro . The special postmark (S-011) was used 25 June - 3 July, 1947.
