III. THE INNOVATIONS OF 1893-1895
During these two years several important changes occurred to the Stamp Duty
Office’s ability to function in an expanding tax revenue system, while some things
stayed the same.
1. The revenue documents essentially stayed the same although some changes
to the paper used occurred.
2. In 1893 a series of new eight annas documents were introduced exclusively
for copies. They rarely have additional stamps added until the 1900s.
3. In 1895 a new series of stamps was introduced to replace the 1884 series.
These stamps were quite different in nature and appear to have been
produced professionally within the State of Kishangarh.
IIIA Continued use of the First Revenue Documents.
These documents continued in use until 1905 when the new Maharajah, Mandan Singh,
introduced a design with his head, taken from court photographs. This section will also
introduce some changes that were made after 1884.
