                            Slania had engraved more postage stamps than any other engraver in history, his output  was

                             prolific and his record will never be beaten. His spectacular one-thousandth stamp was issued


                             by Sweden on 17th March 2000,  and won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as

                            the  largest engraved  stamp  ever  issued.  The  engraving  shows  a  fragment  of a  paint ing  by


                             David  Kloeker  Ehrenstrahl, master of the Swedish  Baroque  Era,  painted  in  1695.  'The Great


                            Deeds  of Swedish  Kings'  is  hung  in  Drottningholm  Palace,  Stockholm.  Sadly  Czeslaw  Slania


                            died on 17th March 2005, exactly five years to the day after this l OOOth  stamp was issued.
