In 1919 correspondence to Australia from Britain took over 40 days to reach its destination. The
introduction of a weekly London to Paris air service gave a taste of an accelerated air service allowing
mails to be posted later to catch the night train from Paris to Marseilles. By 1925 the service was
daily and required a fee of 2d in addition to the surface rate. This postcard posted at the 1925 British
Empire Exhibition was carried on the London to Paris service, saving 24 hours in a forty-day journey.
It was 1931 before a service operated all the way by air & 1934 before a regular service was offered.
