The North Borneo Company obtained its Charter from Queen Victoria in 1881 and in 1931 celebrated
its SOth Anniversary. The Company had a poor reputation in the philatelic market and to repudiate
this they issued a display of the very best in philatelic artistry, part of which is this stunning Orang
Utan, a delightful Bornean Great Ape. The stamps were engraved by J. A. C. Harrison of Great Britain
Seahorse fame. Printed by Waterlow, this is regarded by some as one of the most beautiful stamps
ever produced.
