Apollo 7 (AS-205) Return To Space
Apollo 7' s mission was to put the redesigned CSM through its paces, to build confidence in the program
and get America back on course for the Moon. So, several major procedures had to work on this debut
flight. The fist challenge was to test the new hydrogen-fuelled rocket stage, the S-IVB, whose task in fu-
ture missions was to push the combined Apollo capsule and its lunar module out of Earth orbit and to-
wards the Moon. Below: A set of three hand signed NASA cachet launch covers individually signed
by the crew of Apollo 7.
