The Moon
Apollo 8 was the
first time man-
kind left the grav-
ity of earth and
watched an
"Earthrise." This
becan1e one of
the most famous
Apollo missions
circling around
the Moon at
Christmas 1968
where the astro-
nauts read from
the Bible. Below
is the famous
photo of
"Eaiihrise" which
bears a part of the
flown heatshield
of Apollo 8. The
source of this
heatshield is a
larger block for-
merly encased in
Lucite (acrylic-
based) and given
to NASA workers
and VIPs as rec-
ognition of their
work on the
Apollo program.
