Central Powers
As soon as the Great War broke out Russia and India introduced censorship at exchange offices affecting mail from and to
Persia. Russian censorship in Caucasus and Trans-Caspian areas were set up at Tiflis, Julfa, Baku and Ashkabad and
probably some other places. The British set up censorship in India in Bombay, Karachi and Quetta in Baluchistan. In
addition there were Russian, British, Turkish, Persian Government and oppositional groups censorship in Persia itself.
