Hill Station
Hill
The ex-patriot Europeans, who formed the basis of the administration of the
colony, mostly lived in the mountain community of Hill Station. This location Station
was at a relatively high altitude and provided a cooler climate. The office opened
on 1 January 1905, closing in 1929. Surviving examples are surprisingly rare given
that much of the mail was sent to Europe.
