Hangha
Hangha
This location became a money order office on 1 August 1927, but was
downgraded to a postal agency on 1 February 1932. Its status went full circle
in 1948 when it reverted to being a railway office. Mail was forwarded daily via
the railway to Freetown.
8 May 1956 - Registered letter from Hangha to Kilmarnock, United Kingdom. The adhesive and all the back seals are tied by strikes
of the Type 050.03 canceller. Backstamped at Freetown the following day. The rate was 1s 3d air mail plus 4d registration fee.
Despite the clear Hangha boxed registration mark and the blue cross, there are no signs of the registration fee having been paid.
Front of envelope (75%).
