Lungi

The small coastal village of Lungi was transformed when an airport was built     Lungi
there to serve Freetown. The office was opened on 15 October 1955. Mails were
exchanged daily by boat across the estuary. The first handstamp was destroyed
by a fire at the office on 14 March 1958, and a skeleton temporary replacement
was provided.
