Lungi
The small coastal village of Lungi was transformed when an airport was built Lungi
there to serve Freetown. The office was opened on 15 October 1955. Mails were
exchanged daily by boat across the estuary. The first handstamp was destroyed
by a fire at the office on 14 March 1958, and a skeleton temporary replacement
was provided.
