This office is located on a small island between Bonthe on the large Sherbro
island and the mainland. It was opened as a Postal Agency on 1 July 1894
and remained in business through to independence. Four different datestamps
were used.
17 October 1939 - Registered letter from York Island to Manchester, United Kingdom. Backstamped at Bonthe (18 Oct),
Freetown (20 Oct) and Liverpool (2 Nov). Also struck with York Island registration handstamp and censored.
Postcard used on 23 March 1915 from Freetown to Bristol, UK. Postcard Type JOH4158, published by W.S. Johnston, Freetown.
