This town grew in importance with the railway when it became a terminus
for the northern TPO service. It opened as a railway office in the Ronietta
District on 22 July 1913 and remained open until independence. Four different
handstamps were used. The second one was lost or damaged in late 1954; and
a temporary skeleton mark was used in the first few months of 1955. Three
different spellings were used in the date stamps.
