Scouting in Austria was founded in 191 2 and was one of the founding members of the World Organization
(WOSM) in 1922. Scouting ceased to exist in 1938 with the occupation of the Nazis who banned all
Scouting activities. In 1946, at the conc lusion of the war, Austria was agai n ad mitted into the World
Organization . The national organisations combined to form the Pfadfinder Osterreichs, which hosted the
7th World Jamboree in Bad Isch! in 1951 with 12,884 participants from 6 1 countri es. The Norwegain
contingent consisted of 153 Boy Scouts and Scouters. The special postmark was used 3- 12 August.
