I 4th April 1864, Entire letter sent from Fredericia to Vordingborg. "I am writing at a church window sill and
you should see the most picturesque scenes here in the church yard as the church is the quarter for our 2nd Company. One
soldier is changing his clothes, another is carefully examining his trousers to cleanse them for fleas and the like, a third is
darning his socks, a fourth is having his hair cut sitting on a grave stone, one is walking about smoking his pipe only dressed in
his underwear, and besides the groups who are eating, cooking or sleeping there are many other scenes worth watching."
