A wrapper to a local letter posted on 19th May 1817 in Cowcross St.
addressed to Lt. Colonel Dick, 42nct Regt, Ibbotson's Hotel, Vere Street,
Oxford Street which was charged 2d evidenced by a black "2"
handstamp. The letter was then re-directed on the 20th care of Dr. Dick at
5 Great Cumberland Street. The original "2" was erased with a
handstamp (L 649) and a further 2d became payable, making 4d in total.
This was evidenced by black handstamps "4" (L 622) and "In All"
(L638). A fine black Regimental (?) wax seal.
