A letter written at the Jamaica Coffee House on 4th March 1803 by
William Leacock addressed to Francis Brodie Esq in Edinburgh where it
arrived on the J1h, evidenced by a red bishop mark. The letter was charged
at 111 Od which was pre-paid, evidenced by the circular red handstamp
ii (L 109). The letter, a copy of which is overleaf, reads: "By directions from
Dr. Swanston of St. Kitts, I have drawn upon you for £69-6-4d payable in
London. I request the favour of your acceptance to the draft". The
. Caribbean flavour reflecting the choice of Coffee House.
