Apollo 14 (AS-509) A Very Tough Place
Lift-off from the Moon occurred at 18:48 GMT on the 6 February, after spending 33
hours on the lunar surface. After crew transfer to the Kitty Hawk the LM ascent
stage was separated and remotely guided to impact on the lunar surface. Impact oc-
curred between the Apollo 12 and Apollo 14 seismometers. The resulting seismic

-·- signal lasted for 1.5 hours and was recorded by both instruments.
