Main feature  

The routing  via Brindisi  for  which  a  supplementary  postage  was  
payable.  The  letter  is  endorsed  'Via  Brindisi'  

The postage  to India at this time was  ls  8d for Y2  oz via the United Kingdom  [by British  mail packet  
to the United Kingdom]  and the supplementary  postage was 3d as can be seen in the arrangement  of  
the stamps.  The previous supplement  earlier  in  1875 had been 4d.  
The accountancy marks  in red are: put on in Cape Town  Is  IOd credit to the  United Kingdom  and  Id  
put on in London as the credit to India.  An Indian  type 'Sea  Post Office'  cds is on the back.
