The postage to the United Kingdom was  6d for each Yz  ounce from the 1st  July  1876 until  the  1st  
October  1888 when the rate went down to 4d for each Yz  ounce.  ·  

Cape Colony did not have the equivalent  of the British accountancy mark 'Deficient  postage/Colonies  
share of fine'.  The 7 d represents  the deficient postage of 4d and a half share of the 6d fine die to cape  
Colony from the United Kingdom.  The  I  Od  represents  the deficient postage of 4d and the whole fine of  
6d collected  from the addressee  in the United Kingdom.
